Very Rare self-portrait print,
frame with 99% UV glass.
Hendrik was a Dutch printmaker, draftsman, and painter. He was the leading Dutch engraver of the early Baroque period. According to A. Hyatt Mayor, Goltzius "was the last professional engraver who drew with the authority of a good painter.
Goltzius was born near Venlo in Bracht or Millebrecht, a village then in the Duchy of Julich, now in the municipality Brüggen in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In 1590 to make a tour through Germany to Italy, where he acquired an intense admiration for the works of Michelangelo. He returned to Haarlem in August 1591, considerably improved in health, and worked there until his death.

He was educated at Framlingham College, Suffolk, and trained initially as an architect at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA.In 1909, he won the RIBA John Soane medallion for design and in January of the following year, he was awarded a certificate of honorable mention in the William Tite prize. He later became a painter in the traditional school of English watercolour as well as an engraver, lithographer, and etcher.
Barker exhibited over many years at the Royal Academy, and examples of his work are owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum, and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. In the 1920s, he was an active member of the Senefelder Club.

He occasionally exhibited at the Royal Academy and other exhibitions, one of his latest works being Make Way for the Grand Jury! Hunt was a British engraver os horse and sporting subjects active during the 19th century. He came from a family of engravers and was noted for his fine engravings after Pollard, Alken, Herring and other painters working in the genre.
