Description: Hendrik Goltzius (1558-1617) . Very Rare self-portrait print, frame with 99% UV glass. Hendrik was a Dutch printmaker, draftsman, and painter. He was the leading Dutch engraver of the early Baroque period. According to A. Hyatt Mayor, Goltzius "was the last professional engraver who drew with the authority of a good painter. Goltzius was born near Venlo in Bracht or Millebrecht, a village then in the Duchy of Julich, now in the municipality Brüggen in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1590 to make a tour through Germany to Italy, where he acquired an intense admiration for the works of Michelangelo. He returned to Haarlem in August 1591, considerably improved in health, and worked there until his death.

He later became a painter in the traditional school of English watercolour as well as an engraver, lithographer, and etcher.
Barker exhibited over many years at the Royal Academy, and examples of his work are owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum, and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. In the 1920s, he was an active member of the Senefelder Club.

Lower section has date published information, artist's name in lower right, boxer's name and fighting history. Great piece of vintage boxing history and memorabilia. Beautifully framed, exciting piece of sports history.  Artist CHARLES HUNT R.A. (1803-1877)English Listed Artist.
